Was Your Halloween Holiday Smokin'?

If you have children, are you going to be taking them out on Halloween? There are so many costumes to choose from and so many different parties to go to that you could be out all night and never make it to the first door.

When my children were growing up, it would rain freezing water with it getting so bad that sometimes you couldn't get around to all the places that you might have wanted to take our kids to, but they still got a lot of candy. Now, you have to check all the candy that your kids might receive to make sure that they don't try to eat something that looks like it was opened and resealed. In some of the bigger cities, you could take your bags of candy to your hospital, and they would check these bags at no cost to make sure that all the candy was safe. You could take something that was homemade because these were found to have things in them that shouldn't have been there like, such as razors, pins, and thumbtacks.

You can get a costume of almost any super hero, a pirate, a maid, a bride, and even a vampire. Your child will be on fire to get the one he or she wants. They will have to have all the items that go with the costume, such as the gloves, capes, fingernails, teeth, and the facial make up. If the costume is short you might want to buy some tights, or if the weather is cold you might just want to buy some sweets to put under your costume.

When we were this age, you could go out and be out until ten or eleven o'clock at night. Now the kids are to be taken out at around five or six o'clock and have to be back no later than eight. It seems that parents nowadays would rather just take their kids to parties instead of taking them door to door, if for no other reason than it is safer than to be outdoors and receiving candy from strangers. It also is warmer, depending on what state it is. Children, however, like to go from door to door to receive this treat that they know they will be getting at the door. The whole idea of Halloween is the thrill of the unexpected and the fun of trying to guess who is behind the mask.
